A pastor, Stephen Addy Powell has been admitted to bail in the sum GH¢ 8,000 by an Accra Circuit Court last Monday for an indecent assault.
A pastor, Stephen Addy Powell has been admitted to bail in the sum GH¢ 8,000 by an Accra Circuit Court last Monday for an indecent assault.
He pleaded not guilty before the court presided over by Ms. Georgina Mensah Datsa and would reappear on October 3 this year.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sarah Acquah briefing the court said, the complainant, Nana Ama Asabea was a hairdresser and a resident at Sowutoum.
The accused was a pastor in charge of Crown Prayer Ministry International at Omanjour, a suburb of Sowutoum but resides at Dansoman.
On the 15th April, 2011 at about 4:30pm, the accused collected the complainant’s cell phone address from a witness in this case who happened to be friend to both the complainant and accused.
ASP Acquah mentioned the accused later buzz the complainant that he had had a vision concerning her marriage. Then the accused asked the witness and somebody to accompany him to the complainant’s house.
Upon reaching there, the accused ordered the witnesses to wait outside for him to be alone with the complainant in the room.
Whiles in the room the accused started praying for the complainant and in the process asked her to hold him tightly because evil spirits was behind her problems.
Ms. Acquah said the accused again asked the complainant to lie down in supine position to enable him remove spiritual plantations from her stomach whereby he took a handkerchief from his pocket an shook it on the complainant’s face.
According to her, the complainant’s became dazed and the accused took advantage of that and undressed the underwear and started licking her vagina and in a process, she gained consciousness and started struggling with the accused.
She later lodged a complain to the police and after recorded investigation, the accused was later arrested and charged with the offence before this honourable court.
